Edible (and Delicious) Treats!

While oranges are common in Florida and pecans are in Georgia, traveling a little further north you will find completely different fruits.

In the north east, berries are everywhere... at least in the summer. There are cranberries, blueberries, blackberries and mulberries. Being a southern person (and that is southern than Texas) seeing berries as I walk around is completely exotic!

Fruit production is a way in which plants are able to save guard and disperse seeds. They are often times sweet and very attractive to animals, who eat the fruit and then disperse the seeds as they excrete them. It is a great strategy, that results beneficial to both organisms but it is still pretty simple.

Berries are delicious, and you should not miss an opportunity to have them, but beware... many wild berries are not edible, so be careful and make sure you know what you are eating!
