Tulip Tree

Yellow-poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) aka Tulip Tree

The yellow-poplar is a neat tree found in the Eastern United States from Southern New England to Northern Florida. The yellow-poplars blooms are very unique, they look like tulips, which is why many people refer to them as tulip trees.
If blooms are not present on the tree another way you may identify the tree is breaking a twig.  They are said to have a sweet, spicy odor when broken.
