Daphnia
Daphnia are microcrustaceans, commonly known as water fleas. Arising their name from their jerky movement throughout the water and shows resemblance to real fleas. They are food for fish or others (newts and salamanders), never growing larger than a couple of millimeters no matter how much they eat!
They produce eggs without mating by a process called parthenogenesis. About 50 or so eggs are held in a brood chamber for a few days until they are hatched and out comes NEW DAPHNIA!
