The average lifespan of the Canadian goose is 10-25 years in the wild. One captive pair is known to have
been together for 42 years but when the male was accidentally killed, the female
 died a few months later

Factors that could contribute to a shorter life span are:
         Predation
         Hunting
         Illness
         USDA population control

Trumpeter Swans have been known to live 29 years in the wild, whereas a swan raised in captivity survived for 32 1/2 years. In the wild, however, typical survival age ranges from 15-25 years.
Trumpeter swans can fly between 40-80 miles per hour.
It is regarded as the largest of all native North American wildfowl. Male mute swans can actually get larger at times, but the mute swan is not native to North America.
